Long before creating The Lipstick Boudoir, our founder, French perfumer Nora Chalono (formerly Nora Gasparini), was asking a different question: why can a single scent bring back an entire moment of our lives? That question led her to the world of perfumery — and eventually, to Bali.

A French Perfumer Inspired by Indonesia

Nora arrived in Bali in 2009, bringing with her the traditions of French perfumery and a deep curiosity for Indonesian culture. For more than fifteen years, she explored the richness of the archipelago through its flowers, spices, woods, resins, and local ingredients.

Working as a perfumer means understanding that every raw material carries a story — every fragrance tells something invisible, not just what we smell but what we remember. Over time, one idea became clear: beauty is at its most powerful when it carries meaning.
